Windows 10’s 29th July Release Date Confirmed

Yesterday we reported that it was speculated that the release of Windows 10 would be on the 29th of July. For those who were wondering how true that was, you’ll be pleased to learn that Microsoft has since officially confirmed the release date on their blog. In fact as per our previous report, users should soon start to see the upgrade prompts on their Windows 7/8 computers.

According to Microsoft, “On July 29, you can get Windows 10 for PCs and tablets by taking advantage of the free upgrade offer, or on a new Windows 10 PC from your favorite retailer. If you purchase a new Windows 8.1 device between now and then, the Windows 10 upgrade will be available to you and many retail stores will upgrade your new device for you.”

Previously Microsoft had stated that they had planned Windows 10 for a 2015 release but did not give any specific dates. AMD’s CEO accidentally let the cat out of the bag when she revealed that it was pegged for an end of July release but since it was not an official announcement by Microsoft, we were still a tad skeptical.

In any case it looks like the release date is for real so if you’re excited for all the brand new features Microsoft will be bringing to the table, such as Cortana, Microsoft’s new Edge internet browser, and features such as Contiuum, you’ll want to keep an eye out for that prompt so that you can reserve your free copy of Windows 10 and upgrade yourself upon its release.
